ECO-INDUSTRIAL PARK INITIATIVE TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRIAL PARK MODEL IN VIET NAM (2014–2019)

OVERVIEW

The project was Viet Nam’s first eco-industrial park initiative, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, persistent organic pollutants, and water contaminants while promoting the adoption of clean technologies, improved resource efficiency, and sound chemical management.

It supported the transformation of industrial zones and fostered greater awareness of sustainable resource use, delivering benefits such as cost reduction, enhanced competitiveness, waste minimisation, improved worker well-being, and increased access to advanced technologies and financing.

Implemented by: Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) & United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
Pilot Industrial Parks: Khanh Phu (Ninh Binh), Gian Khau (Ninh Binh), Hoa Khanh (Da Nang), Tra Noc 1 & 2 (Can Tho)
Funded by: GEF, SECO, UNDP
