Master Plans for industrial parks are often developed based on conventional and business-as-usual planning processes. Conventional Master Plans do often not fully consider the sustainability challenges nor opportunities offered by eco-industrial park approaches (e.g. industry clusters, industrial synergies, anchor tenants, shared and integrated utilities and infrastructures).

The objective of this Master Plan EIP Review Tool is to guide the sustainability review of existing Master Plans of industrial parks, based on eco-industrial parks concepts and International Framework for Eco-Industrial Parks (UNIDO, WBG, GIZ), and thereby provide concrete suggestions for strengthening Master Plans.
