Turning waste sand from steel production into a resource for construction materials at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park

Turning waste sand from steel production into a resource for construction materials” is a case study implemented at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, Viet Nam, under the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP Viet Nam).

The case demonstrates how industrial symbiosis can be effectively implemented through the reuse of waste sand generated from steel production as an input material for non-fired brick manufacturing. The solution enables participating enterprises to save nearly USD 29,000 per year, requires no additional capital investment, and contributes to reducing natural sand extraction, greenhouse gas emissions, and waste treatment volumes.
