Dong Nai, 12 September 2023, the management of AMATA Bien Hoa Industrial Park in Dong Nai province, welcomed Mr Etienne Jenni, Programme Manager of Trade Promotion from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Headquarters and Mr Do Quang Huy, National Programme Officer of SECO in Viet Nam and Ms Le Thi Thanh Thao, UNIDO Country Representative.

The delegation was briefed by AMATA’s team about the park operation and the results achieved with the support of the UNIDO project, the key opportunities and challenges for eco-industrial park model development as well as the needs for technical assistance under the next phase of the project.

The delegation visited the wastewater treatment facilities at AMATA IP and Fleming International Company Limited, which specializes in producing decorative candles exported to the USA and Europe. This is one of the companies that received technical support and has gained economic and environmental benefits.

During the working visit to Viet Nam from 11 to 18 September 2023, Mr. Etienne Jenni met with the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Viet Nam to get an update of the project implementation progress, the evaluation and preparation of the new Country Programme 2025-2028, and the key priorities of the Government of Viet Nam on eco-industrial parks development.

The Government of Switzerland is supporting the development of EIPs through the project “Eco-industrial Park Intervention in Viet Nam” to transform AMATA Bien Hoa IP into an EIP. 

SECO’s Trade Promotion Division supports a rules-based trade system by creating favourable framework conditions for international trade. These increase the opportunities of developing countries like Vietnam in overseas markets and strengthen the competitiveness of their producers and enterprises.
