On 26 June 2025, the GEIPP Viet Nam Project Management Unit, UNIDO, companies operating in Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, representatives of local departments, and several experts attended a consultative workshop on the draft pilot proposal for transitioning Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park by 2030, with a vision to 2045. The workshop was co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPZA) and Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park JSC (HIPC).
At the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Tram Anh, National Project Manager of GEIPP Viet Nam at UNIDO, commended Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park for its efforts in developing the proposal and implementing eco-industrial initiatives. To further improve the draft, she recommended a more specific and detailed assessment of the park’s current status, identifying key opportunities and challenges, and outlining concrete steps for the transition in line with the criteria of Decree No. 35/2022/ND-CP on the management of industrial and economic zones.
Since 2020, UNIDO has been supporting Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park through the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP), conducting rapid EIP assessments, providing technical advice on industrial symbiosis, and promoting resource efficiency and cleaner production. Building on this progress, Hiep Phuoc IP has implemented a series of green innovations and is working toward obtaining national EIP certification. This transition is expected to enhance resource efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and create opportunities for accessing green finance, increasing competitiveness, and advancing sustainable business practices.
The workshop gathered representatives from HEPZA, HIPC, business associations such as HBA and HGBA, research institutes, experts, and 10 leading enterprises operating in Hiep Phuoc IP including Jotun, Meizan, Tho Phat, Kondo, Duc Veam, among others.
Transitioning Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park into an eco-industrial park not only aligns with the global circular economy trend but also promotes sustainable development, resource efficiency, environmental and socio-economic benefits, and contributes to Ho Chi Minh Citys green industrial development goals
