Hai Phong, 04 July 2025 – DEEP C recently hosted a technical workshop on “Reducing Operating Costs through Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP)”, bringing together representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, UNIDO, local authorities, technical experts, and enterprises within the industrial zone.
This event marked a concrete step in DEEP C’s roadmap to transitioning into an Eco-Industrial Park (EIP), in alignment with Decree 35/2022/ND-CP and Circular 05/2025/TT-BKHDT.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Vuong Thi Minh Hieu, Deputy Director General of the Foreign Investment Agency (Ministry of Finance), emphasized that adopting the EIP and eco-enterprise models not only reduces costs and conserves resources, but also enhances business competitiveness—particularly relevant in the context of upcoming EU regulations such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). She highlighted that to obtain EIP certification, industrial zones must meet several criteria, including a minimum of 20% of tenant enterprises implementing RECP and at least one industrial symbiosis model established.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs and former Deputy Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, reaffirmed that eco-industrial development is a strategic direction for the city. DEEP C and Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park have been identified to continue their EIP transition with guidance from GEIPP and UNIDO.
Ms. Diep Thi Kim Hoan, Sustainability Director at DEEP C, encouraged more businesses in the zone to actively participate in RECP technical support programmes and engage in symbiosis initiatives—key conditions for EIP and eco enterprise certification and opportunities to enhance performance and sustainable growth.
As a long-standing partner of DEEP C, Dr. Nguyen Tram Anh, National Programme Manager of GEIPP Viet Nam (implemented by UNIDO and funded by SECO), reaffirmed the programme’s commitment to supporting DEEP C in achieving the target of at least 20% of enterprises adopting RECP—an essential milestone for obtaining EIP certification.
With multiple green initiatives already in place—such as renewable energy development, shared utility infrastructure, and the promotion of sustainable production—DEEP C, with continued support from GEIPP Viet Nam, is steadily progressing in its transition toward becoming one of the first officially recognized Eco-Industrial Parks in Viet Nam.
