19 November 2021. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), through its project “Eco-industrial parks intervention in Vietnam", organized a “Capacity development Workshop on Resource efficiency and Cleaner Production and Industrial Symbiosis” at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park (Ho Chi Minh City). The workshop, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Investment, targeted relevant local departments andagencies, the industrial park developer and businesses in Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park.
The training part was led by the Vietnam Cleaner Production Center (VNCPC) in collaboration with Sofies Consulting, and it provided an initial understanding of the technical support which is offered by UNIDO to identify and implement opportunities for eco-industrial park (EIP), with the aim of bringing environmental and economic benefits to businesses. Resource efficient and cleaner production (RECP) and industrial symbiosis (IS) are among the key tools to transform conventional industrial zones towards EIPs.
This was an important event to build the capacity of companies and park management about the benefits of EIPs, the EIP international frameworks, good practices in the management of the EIP, to introduce methods and tools in identifying and implementing RECP and IS solutions; and to discuss concerns and expectations from the Management Board of Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones of Ho Chi Minh City, Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park Joint Stock Company and resident companies.
